So many companies have realized that the best way to grow is to buy smaller or startup companies. IBM recently added Unica marketing automation software for $480 million. This is not the only company IBM has added, they recently bought CoreMetrics and Sterling Commerce. The company plans to spend $20 billion on more acquisitions over the next couple of years.

Unica's major customers include eBay, Starword, and Best Buy. Under the deal, IBM will pay around $21 per share for Unica. The company offers on-demand and traditional software.
